Uncle Sam Ain't Released Me Yet is a true statement for any Veteran. The "DRB" defines Discharge in DODI 1332.28 as: DoDI 1332.28 SUBJECT: Discharge Review Board (DRB) Procedures and Standards E2.1.4. Discharge. The complete severance from all military status gained by the enlistment or induction concerned, including the assignment of a reason for such discharge and characterization of service (DoD Directive 1332.14 (reference (d)). You cannot be a Veteran without the military status gained by enlistment or induction. Further if you look at your DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE it will probably have something similar to : ‘Armed Forces of the United States of America’ / ‘United States Army' as the component a veteran was Discharged from. THERE IS NO 'Armed Forces of the United States of America’ , and THERE IS NO ‘United States Army' The DD FORM 4 an enlistee fills out states that it is for enlistment into the ' ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES' (Not Armed Forces of the United States of America’ ) https://www.esd.whs.mil/portals/54/documents/dd/forms/dd/dd0004.pdf And the GPO Style Manual defines 'U.S. Army' as the "Army of the United States' (not UNITED STATES ARMY). In fact nowhere in the style manual is the phrase 'United States Army' used.
