The 2025 New Brunswick Under-20 Curling Championships officially opened Thursday afternoon at the Heather Curling Club in Saint Andrews, bringing together the province’s top young curlers in a competition that will determine who represents New Brunswick at the national level.
Following the Canadian national anthem, the opening ceremony began with Jonathan Logan introducing each team, giving players a moment to acknowledge the crowd of family, friends, and curling fans. St. Croix MLA Kathy Bockus attended the ceremony, representing the province at the event.
Heather Curling Club President Roger McNabb welcomed the athletes to the high stakes tournament, underscoring the club’s more than 100-year history in the sport.
The tournament, presented by the Jake Thomas Celebrity Curling Classic, runs through February 9. The Heather Curling Club, known for its deep curling roots and strong community support, has worked with volunteers and ice technicians to prepare for the competition.
As the opening ceremony concluded, the sound of sliding stones and sweeping brushes marked the start of a weekend where skill, precision, and strategy will define the province’s next champions.
