The Library of the Museum of Comparative Zoology, established by Louis Agassiz in 1861 and rededicated as the Ernst Mayr Library in 1995, joins in supporting the work of the Museum by providing and preserving information resources for the research and teaching activities of the Harvard community.
The Library holds more than 304,072 volumes of monographs and journals, including recently added materials from the Molecular and Cellular Biology Department. The Special Collections contain rare books as well as the MCZ Archives, including chiefly the personal papers and other manuscripts of naturalists and scientific institutions.
